On Saturday May 18, Henrik Lundqvist Foundation Young Ambassadors (HLFYAs) and several alumni of the YA program joined Food Bank for New York City (FBNYC) to participate in assisting families in receiving household grocery items at Lehman Village in New York City.
With an emphasis on fresh produce and shelf-stable goods, customers can choose groceries that are ideal for their families from FBNYC Mobile Pantries’ client choice-style pantry concept. The mission of FBNYC is to empower every New Yorker to attain food security for good.
Before the families arrived, HLFYAs began helping the Food Bank team by setting up different stations of food and personal hygiene products. Then when the families arrived, the Young Ambassadors managed the line of the stations and conducted intake for all the clients.
While engaging with community members and providing a client choice distribution of fresh produce and shelf-stable items, 149 families were provided with healthy, nourishing food and personal hygiene products!
This service event for the HLFYAs was a great way to connect with the community of New York City, as well as fulfill families in need.
