In 2022, HLFYA Ilan decided to spearhead a fundraising project to purchase an adaptive bike for an 8-year-old boy with special needs as his YA Independent Service Project. Ilan’s efforts were remarkable, and his hard work and dedication brought smiles to the faces of many.

Ilan’s journey began when he learned about the boy’s need for an adaptive bike. He took the initiative to start a fundraising campaign, which he coordinated through his social media channels and with the help of his local community. He worked tirelessly to raise the $6,500 required to purchase the bike, which was customized to meet the needs of the boy.

After the fundraising campaign was successful, Ilan then coordinated with a bike development organization to create the custom bike. He worked with the Washington Capitals Capitals to brand and present the bike, which was an unforgettable moment for the boy and his family.

Ilan’s dedication and passion for the project were admirable. He went above and beyond to ensure that the boy received the bike he needed to improve his mobility and enhance his quality of life. His efforts have shown that with determination and hard work, anything is possible.
