On Sunday November 6th, 2022, Chase Pinkernell, a 2022 Henrik Lundqvist Foundation Young Ambassador, completed a golf-a-thon benefiting Feeding 500, an organization committed to feeding the homeless and preventing future homelessness in his local community. Feeding 500 was founded by four high school seniors two years ago, one of whom is a lacrosse teammate of Chase’s. The organization raises money and collects food donations which go directly toward feeding the homeless who come through Open Doors, a homeless shelter in Norwalk, CT. With an initial goal of serving 500 meals, Feeding 500 has served over 10,000 meals at Open Doors shelter over the past two years. The organization is growing and expanding and Chase wanted to have a meaningful impact on his friends’ efforts feeding the homeless. Trying to come up with a fun and creative way to fundraise for Feeding 500, Chase decided to do a golf-a-thon, golfing from sunup to sundown. He reached out to friends and family for support by either pledging a dollar amount per hole, or making a flat donation. Chase set out on November 6th at 8am and started making his way around the golf course. With an initial goal of completing 50 holes, Chase fell just short completing his 48th hole as the sun started to set. 48 holes was enough for Chase to raise $3,094 for Feeding 500. Chase’s fundraising efforts are enough to serve 1200 meals at Open Doors shelter. Chase is very grateful to everyone who donated to his HLF campaign. Their generosity will have a significant impact on Feeding 500 and their initiative of feeding the homeless and hopefully preventing future homelessness.
