On Tuesday, February 23rd, HLF Young Ambassadors and Alumni gathered on Zoom with the Food Bank for NYC (FBNYC) to participate in the first service event of the 2021 season! Young Ambassadors had the privilege of hearing from the FBNYC staff about nonprofit careers, volunteering, and all the amazing work they do feeding New Yorkers.
After hearing from the FBNYC staff about what roles they play at the FBNYC and how they fell in love with volunteering, Young Ambassadors and Alumni participated in the “Dear New York” service learning activity. “Dear New York” is a great way to give back to the community from home! Volunteers can write letters to New Yorkers that will be handed out to FBNYC clients who come and pick up meals and pantry bags, to hopefully put a smile on their face even during these difficult times.
It is always so inspiring to hear other people’s stories and hear about different ways to get involved in the community, thank you to the amazing staff at Food Bank for New York City for a great start to the 2021 season! HLF is proud to partner with FBNYC.
