Last Sunday, January 26, The Lundqvist Foundation held their annual orientation for the new class of Young Ambassadors (YA’s). This class is special, being the 10th Class of YA’s in the history of HLF since its creation in 2014. Me and my fellow class of Young Ambassadors started off the morning with a bite to eat, bagels with cream cheese and a bottle of water. Afterwards we were introduced to the Foundation and its goals by Program Director Meredith Wolff and Executive Director Johanna Bialous. We were given a special videotaped message from Henrik Lundqvist himself, wishing us well in our journeys as ambassadors!
We then got to know each other by sharing special items that have special meaning to us, many people brought hockey pucks, while I had a guitar pick, then we got to find connections in our peers who were formerly strangers. We were then introduced to the requirements and community service activities required for a Young Ambassador.
Afterwards speakers from Bespoke Education taught us lessons to be more confident as public speakers and more confident talking to other people. They had us play a special game of “zip-zap-zop” to help us through a connected energy. We met our mentors who had previously gone through the Young Ambassador program and received advice on upcoming events and activities. After we further introduced ourselves to each other more personally, learning special details about each other and sharing with the rest of the class. Lastly, we picked up our HLFYA hoodies, orientation packet, and Henrik Lundqvist Foundation Cap and set off on our journey as Young Ambassadors!
Thank you to our Program Director Meredith Wolff, Executive Director Johanna Bialous, Bespoke Education, and Henrik Lundqvist for opening the 202h Class of YOung Ambassadors with a strong start!
