On September 20th, HLF Young Ambassadors and Alumni came together for a meaningful day of service with the Food Bank for New York City at their Lehman Village Mobile Food Pantry site. This event marked a special occasion as the Henrik Lundqvist Foundation recently renewed its $50,000 grant to support the FBNYC Mobile and Campus Food Pantry Programs. In addition to supporting FBNYC with over $355,000 in grants to date, HLF Young Ambassadors volunteer annually to help distribute food to NYC families in need.

To the Young Ambassador’s surprise, Henrik Lundqvist himself made a surprise appearance at the event, alongside his wife Therese and their 2 daughters. The Lundqvist family didn’t just stop by, they rolled up their sleeves with the YA volunteers helping to set up and hand out food to FBNYC clients. The Lundqvists’ presence brought a positive energy and truly represented the foundation’s values of compassion, teamwork, and hands-on service.

Upon arrival, Young Ambassadors were warmly greeted by FBNYC Team Member Melissa, who provided perspective on the challenges many families face and the importance of these food programs. After this introduction, Ambassadors got right to work. Together, we handed out food to 204 families, giving these people not only essentials, but also a friendly smile and kindness.

The day was filled with teamwork, compassion and a sense of giving back to the community. Ambassadors got to see firsthand how the Henrik Lundqvist Foundation’s support continues to help strengthen vital programs which left them all inspired.
