On the weekend of October 4th, 9th grader and HLF Young Ambassador Jake Hershkowitz hosted “Faceoff For The Future”, a fundraiser to support expanding employment opportunities for adults with disabilities. Faceoff For The Future was Jake’s vision to combine his love of hockey with his independent service project for the HLF

The event took place at the North Shore PAL roller hockey rink during regular-season games. With the help of local business sponsors, he was able to raffle off prizes including gift cards to gyms, restaurants, and Schmackerys cookies (@Schmackerys). In addition, he was able to explain about the HLF and his event to his teammates and families at more than ten games.

Over the weekend-long event, he raised more than $ 3,200 for two organizations, Smile Farms and Creative Spirit, both committed to the employment of individuals with differing abilities, and doubled his total goal.

Thanks to the generous sponsors for helping Jake make this event possible and to everyone who donated through the raffles, fundraising page, and snack purchases and a big thanks to North Shore PAL and the roller hockey families!
