For my project I set up a GoFundMe page online in order to raise money for the Scott J. Beigel Memorial Fund. The Scott J. Beigel Memorial Fund was created in honor of my camp counselor who was one of the victims of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, and the fund’s goal is to raise money to send children to camp who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford it. I chose this for my project because I really wanted to focus on a cause that I have a personal connection to in some way, and the Scott J. Beigel Memorial Fund’s goal to send children to camp is one that I am very passionate about. I also felt that it was a great honor to raise money for a cause that was so important to Scott as well. Camp is an amazing opportunity for children to learn and grow, and I am extremely grateful that I was able to surpass my goal of $1,000 and raise $2,100 for the fund! It felt incredible to know how much of an impact I was able to make on the lives of other children, and I am so thankful that my friends and family were able to support me in raising more than double my original goal.
